Probably not. However, you might have heard the oft-told tale of the role that indoor pitches have played in the footballing success Iceland has experienced over recent years. Alongside the emergence of highly educated coaches, these facilities have been viewed as key to the team's historic achievements - and rightly so, to some extent. But while players being able to train all year round indoors is a highly important development and not to be underestimated, it is worth pointing out that none of the players in the probable starting line-up against Argentina are a pure breed of these indoor halls. Burnley’s Johann Berg Gudmundsson comes the closest, having had the opportunity to play indoors from the age of 12. But even his indoor playing-time was limited since time-slots were usually allocated to the advanced and adult players. As a result Gudmundsson, like the rest of his team-mates, spent his formative years training outdoors, in every kind of snowfall imaginable, on frozen gravel pitches, or in the famous Icelandic horizontal rain.
